The spicebush swallowtail, or green-clouded butterfly, is a common black swallowtail butterfly found in North America. It's also confused with the black sawllowtail butterfly. Swallowtail butterflies get their name because of the defense mechanism they have. If a bird tries to catch them, they'll grab onto the tail of the butterfly on its wing and choke the bird,hence the name "swallow tail".
